Digital Democracy Dialogue (3D)- Disinformation, digital technology and elections

On 13 April 2021, the Universal Rights Group (URG), Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Center for Democracy and Technology (CDT), the Carter Center, the International Democracy and Election Assistance (IDEA) will convene a Zoom roundtable on disinformation, digital technology and elections. This will be the first roundtable as part of the Digital Democracy Dialogues (3D) series – biannual policy dialogues organised by URG and supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that will address the most pressing global issues at the intersection of human rights, democracy and digital technology.

The objective of this virtual roundtable is to bring together representatives from UN member States, civil society, and social media technology companies for a discussion of the dangers posed by disinformation on online platforms for democracy and human rights.

Presentations by experts in this field will be followed by a discussion in which all participants are encouraged to offer input, such as examples of State best practices, new policies or pressing challenges.
A draft concept note is available here.
