The Powers of the General Assembly to Prevent and Respond to Atrocity Crimes: Tools and Opportunities

The Universal Rights Group, theAsia Pacific Centre for the Responsibility to Protect,  and the Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect, together with the Permanent Missions of Costa Rica, Croatia and Switzerland to the UN in New York will be hosting a virtual policy dialogue focusing on ‘The Powers of the General Assembly to Prevent and Respond to Atrocity Crimes: Tools and Opportunities’.

This policy dialogue will bring together a cross-regional group of experts from Permanent Missions, UN mechanisms, civil society organisations, and academia, and will provide an opportunity for experts and practitioners to discuss how the tools available to the General Assembly to prevent and respond to atrocity crimes may be utilised in practice, and the opportunities and challenges that exist for prevention in the world’s foremost deliberative body.
