Digital Democracy Dialogues 3D – Disinformation, digital technology and elections

In 2021 the Universal Rights Group (URG), supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will launch a new regular space for dialogue and coordination between States, technology companies and civil society: the ‘Digital Democracy Dialogues’ (3D). These will aim to address some of the most pressing global issues at the intersection of human rights, democracy and digital technology.

This first 3D roundtable, co-organised with the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Center for Democracy and Technology (CDT), the Carter Center, and the Institute for Democracy and Election Assistance (IDEA) and held online (out of New York) and under the Chatham House rule, will focus on the impact of misinformation on democracy, elections and civil and political rights. Following presentations by expert speakers, the floor will be opened for discussion and input from all participants, which will include representatives from UN member States, private companies and civil society.
