Children’s rights: how to secure convergence at the Human Rights Council?
The Universal Dialogue on children’s rights will be a working lunch that will take place on 28th September from 13h00 to 15h00 and will bring together approximately 20 key participants including State representatives, normally at ambassadorial level, from each UN region, as well as from different political groups; members from the UN Committee of the Rights of the Child; UNICEF representatives; and URG staff.
The Universal Dialogue will be chaired by UNICEF and will start with a brief presentation by URG providing a comprehensive background of the topic, highlighting key areas of division and sensitivity, and proposing key questions for discussion.
A ‘tour de table’ discussion will then engage all participants and give them the opportunity to present their views on the subject. The Chatham House Rule will apply to promote a sincere and open discussion with the potential of finding common ground and creating bridges.
