Towards a new accountability? The role of UN-mandated investigative mechanisms in securing accountability for human rights violations at the national, regional and international level’

The Universal Rights Group (URG), in cooperation with the Permanent Mission of the United States to the UN in Geneva, is organising a virtual policy dialogue focusing on ‘Towards a new accountability? The role of UN-mandated investigative mechanisms in securing accountability for human rights violations at the national, regional and international level‘.

The policy dialogue will bring together a cross-regional group of experts from Permanent Missions, capitals, civil society organisations, academia, representatives of national and international law enforcement agencies and judicial systems, as well as members of various international investigative mechanisms with the aim of analysing emerging trends and sharing best practices among participants related to UN-mandated efforts to secure accountability for human rights violations.
The event will take place on Tuesday 31 August from 3-4.30 pm CEST and Wednesday 1 September 2021 from 3-5 pm CEST via Zoom.
More information about the issues that will be discussed during the policy dialogue can be found in the concept note, which can be consulted here.
